Movin' and Groovin' with JoLynn

Join us on Monday's and Wednesday's for "Exercise with Jo Lynn" - Movin' & Groovin'. 9:00am - 9:45am. Wheelchairs and Walkers are welcome!

Come and join the men and women who exercise with JoLynn on Monday and Wednesday mornings. JoLynn is an awesome singer and brings lots of music and fun. She offers an excellent strategy for health and fitness! 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Using chairs as balance aids, this class will get you circulating and keep you flexible. Move to music classics and groove to some new ones! $2 per class for members, $3 per class nonmembers.


Blood Sugar Testing

Done the third Thursday of each month from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Sponsored by IHM Senior Living Community.


Brain Aerobics

Mondays at 10:00 am. Join this fun group to exercise your brain and learn ways to keep your brain healthy. New information and activities each week.


Blood Pressure Checks

The second Friday of the month by Great Lakes Caring and the third Wednesday of the month by Ohioans Home Health Care.


15/15 Club

Fifteen pounds in fifteen weeks - or fifteen weeks to fifteen minutes of exercise a day. Members of the group receive support, encouragement, and idea sharing. Led by Dave McNew.


EnhanceFitness

Sixteen-Week exercise classes are held at the Center on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays that are conducted by trained staff from the Monroe Family YMCA. This class is evidenced based and is designed to improve strength and blood pressure and cholesterol numbers. The next class begins in September.


Chair Yoga

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Cheri leads the Chair Yoga class at 10:15 a.m. and Sandie leads a class on Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. -- They will take you through a wonderful yoga routine.


Line Dancing

Country and pop tunes come together in songs with a line dancing swing to keep you energized! Our large common area becomes a dance floor for advanced participants. Everyone is welcome! Mondays, 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm.. The class is currently looking for an instructor. Call (734) 241-0404 for information.


Exercise Room at the Center - Plus Personal Assistance

Barbara Ginther from Rehabilitation Specialist of Monroe provides assistance each Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. We have an updated exercise room for your personal exercise. Equipped with stationary bikes, recumbent bike, cardio-fit machines, scales, and treadmills. Come use these anytime M-W-Th 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tu-Fri 7:00 am. - 4:00 pm. Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. and SUnday 10:00 am. - 2:00 pm. If you would like training on one of the machines, please see the front desk, or come on Tuesday mornings to work with Barb.


Tai Chi

Join in the Chinese martial art that combines controlled movements with deep breathing. Tai Chi provides health benefits that include reducing stress, lessening chronic pain, and improving the immune system. An aerobic alternative, this exercise also has long-term cardiovascular benefits. In addition, balance and blood pressure often see improvement and bones are strengthened. Beginners Fridays at 12:30 p.m. Advanced at 1:30 p.m. ** Please note that there will be no Tai Chi classes in July. **


Health Odyssey

Come on the fourth Thursday of the month at 11:30 am, February through October for complimentary healthy meals and health education presentations sponsored by ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. This favorite event fills early, so reserve at (734) 241-0404.


Balance Matters

The Monroe Center offers an exercise class to help with improving our balance. Most of the exercises are done sitting down and are designed to help strengthen our core and increase flexibility in our ankles and wrists. Exercises are at your own pace and are fun. Why not be pro-active and join us?
