Let's Chat

Sharing with one another is such a wonderful way to connect. This month during "Let's Chat" we want to hear about your first love. How did you know? What made it special? Is love at first sight real? We hope that you'll come and share your memories and then stay for a light supper. The center is open late on Mondays. New members welcome. Share... Listen... Care

Vision-Impaired Support

Join a group of caring people in a friendly setting to discover ways to handle different situations the vision-impaired person encounters. The group often discusses new vision aids, braille equipment, transportation issues, and local help. This group also has a volunteer who reads the monthly newsletter to tape.

The group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room. Drop in anytime! Please ask at the front desk if you need assistance and we will be glad to help. You are also welcome to "do lunch" afterward.

Comfort and Connection

The Sunshine Connection makes sure people stay connected & comforted! These caring volunteers make visits, call with reassuring support, and send out cards to our members and others who are ailing or bereaved. What a sense of comfort for those who have become ill, need an extra contact during the week, or have recently lost a loved one. Please let us know if we can be of service to you or a loved one. Volunteers are also welcome to join the Sunshine Group!

Legal Assistance

The Monroe County Senior Legal Services spends the second and fourth Wednesday morning with us to help those over 60 with legal issues they may encounter. They will also help with other issues like billing as they are able. Call the center at 734-241-0404 for advance appointments. A $20 initial consulting fee applies.

Medicare Part D

We have two resources to help you decide which plan is best for you: A certified MMAP center volunteer and Monroe County Opportunity Program's Resource Advocate. This is by appointment so call the center at 734-241-0404. Call early during open enrollment to make sure you get the help you need.

Resource Advocacy

This service through Monroe County Opportunity Program is provided right at the center every other Tuesday from 9:00 am to noon. Please call to make an appointment at 734-241-0404. This service can find or solve the following:
